Let Not Your Light Be Hidden... Let Your Light Shine!
Did you know all children should leave primary school knowing their times tables up to 12 x 12 and the related division facts (for example 2 x 3 = 6 and 6 ÷ 3 = 2). With this in mind, we are continuing to help our pupils to learn their tables but it would be great if parents and carers could support us by encouraging children to practice at home. Any child who thinks they know any of their multiplication and division facts off by heart (and can answer quick fire questions in a random order) will be sent to Mrs Deakin or Mrs Patel to be tested and rewarded with a sticker on a special times table certificate. Once they know all of the tables listed below they will then be rewarded with a special enamel badge which will be presented in assembly.
Knowing 2,5 and 10 times tables- Bronze badge
Knowing 3,4,8 and 11 times tables- Silver badge
Knowing 6, 7, 9 and 12 times tables- Gold badge
Multiplication tables check
The multiplication tables check (MTC) is statutory for all year 4 pupils in England. The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics. In 2024, the test will be administered to all eligible year 4 pupils between Monday 3 June and Friday 14 June.
