Mission Statement
St. Matthew’s Primary School provides children with a creative and challenging curriculum that develops their love and understanding of the English language. Engaging and consistent learning opportunities equip children with the necessary life skills to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
Nurturing a love of reading is an integral part of the English curriculum. Children are encouraged to read often and widely and reading for pleasure is celebrated and prioritised, thus enabling children to explore and discover the world around them through a range of fiction and non-fiction texts. This in turn improves their knowledge and enhances their learning across other subjects.
Our school ethos of ‘Learning Together in the Love of God’ similarly underpins our practice. Children learn to feel valued and value others as part of our whole school approach. Furthermore, we regularly work in partnership with governors, parents and our local parish community and celebrate success in all we do.
