Science

Throughout Autumn Term, we will be exploring different everyday materials and their properties. We will do a range of different experiments to understand their properties.

In Spring Term, children will be looking at habitats and what animals and plants live in these habitats. 

We will be learning how we can recognise if a object or thing is living or not, and look at both local and world habitats. 

When you are out have a look around, can you find any habitats? What animals might live there?

Children will link this learning to their Non-Chronological report in English. 

Living things and their Habitats

In this topic, we looked at what living things need in order to survive. We also looked at how different animals are suited to their habitats. We also made different minibeast habitats for our home learning and then we put them around our playground to see what minibeasts lived in them. 

Animals including Humans

In this topic, we are going to be learning about the importance of hygiene and exercise. We are going to be doing an experiment where we do different exercises and then look at how our bodies change. 

We are are going to have some special visitors that will be visiting Year 2. These special visitors are chicks!
