    Art and Design Curriculum

At St Matthew's, our art teaching and learning follows the National Curriculum Programme of Study for art and design in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

    Art and Design Curriculum Map

This document outlines our approach to teaching art at St Matthew's in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 and in Key Stage 2. Our art and design curriculum is structured around the National Curriculum Programme of Study and is designed to promote the progressive development of knowledge, skills and creativity. Teaching and learning is organised into four strands: drawing (purple), painting (blue), printing (green) and sculpture (pink); this provides pupils with a broad and balanced curriculum that enables them to refine their artistic techniques and express themselves with increasing confidence.
