In Year 6, we assess children on their writing through formal, teacher assessment. 

Children do not sit a formal test for their writing and instead, they complete independent pieces of writing in this show-off writing books.

Children will be assessed at one of the following three:

- Working towards the expected standard

- Working at the expected standard

- Working at the greater depth standard

Children do not need to have every strand of the assessment guide, in each piece. However, to achieve the given standard, they must have evidence of each strand across a range of different pieces of writing.
