Autumn 1: Marvellous Me!

Maths: 

In Maths, we will be looking at patterns, measuring length, height and weight. We will also be exploring numbers in depth. This includes counting, ordering numbers and recognising numbers. In addition to this, the children will be learning to sort and match objects. They will use this to group objects together and discuss colours, shapes and size.

English: 

The children will be looking at the following key texts. Click on the link to listen to each story.

We will also be focussing on being able to write our names using name cards to support us. The children will be practising holding a pencil effectively to begin to form letters correctly.

Topic: 

This term our topic is 'Marvellous me'. We will be exploring what makes us all unique and special. The children will be encouraged to discuss their likes/ dislikes, people who are important to them and what makes us similar and different. 

Phonics:

In phonics, the children will start to recognise single sounds and explore how they are written. We will practice hearing sounds in words and begin to blend sounds together to say a word. For example, c-a-t.
