British Science Week is an annual ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths. British Science Week 2026 is taking place between 6–15 March 2026.

The theme for British Science Week 2026 is 'Curiosity: what's your question?'

British Science Week at St Matthew's

We will be celebrating British Science Week at St Matthew's, giving pupils the opportunity to explore, investigate and celebrate the exciting world of science. Throughout the week, children will take part in engaging activities that encourage curiosity, questioning and discovery. Our Inspire Workshop focus for the spring term is science with a theme of: 'Curiosity: what's your question?'

How to celebrate British Science Week at home

Children can celebrate British Science Week at home by exploring simple, fun science activities using everyday materials. Curiosity and enthusiasm for science can be built at home by carrying out easy experiments such as: making a volcano with baking soda and vinegar, planting seeds or testing which materials float or sink. Children can observe the world around them by looking for patterns in nature, keeping a weather diary or spotting science in daily life such as how shadows change or how food cooks.
