It is important that children practise their Times Tables so they can recall multiplication and division facts easily.

Children can use the links below to help them become secure in their Times Tables.

In the Autumn term, we will be looking at Place Value. We will learn about 3-digit numbers and the value of each digit within a number. For example:

    • 1 is in the hundreds place = 100
    • 2 is in the tens place = 20
    • 2 is in the ones place = 2

    So, 122 = 100 + 20 + 2.

We will also be looking at finding 1, 10 and 100 more or less than a given number. Children will learn how the digits change when we add or subtract 1, 10 or 100.

    For example, with 122:

    • 1 more = 123
    • 1 less = 121
    • 10 more = 132
    • 10 less = 112
    • 100 more = 222
    • 100 less = 22

We will then look at comparing numbers using the symbols <, > and =. Children will learn to compare 3-digit numbers and identify which number is greater, smaller or equal.

    For example:

    • 122 < 135 — 122 is less than 135
    • 245 > 198 — 245 is greater than 198
    • 320 = 320 — both numbers are equal

We will encourage children to look carefully at the hundreds, tens and ones when comparing numbers.
