Free bus travel for parents this October half-term Transport for West Midlands is offering parents free bus rides to help cut the cost of keeping children busy this half-term. Parents and carers can apply for a Swift travel card pre-loaded with free bus travel between Monday, October 27 and Sunday, November 2 as part of the region's ongoing campaign to get more people to try buses. Those who take up the free deal will also be offered a 25% discount on a further week's free travel. The offer is part of a £20 million passenger incentive programme, funded by Government through the Bus Service Improvement Plan, to encourage more people to use the bus. The offer is available for new and lapsed bus users travelling with a child. Applications will be open from Monday, October 6 through the TfWM website

Starting School in September 2026 If you have a child who is due to start school in September 2026, why not make an appointment for a tour with the headteacher to see why St Matthew's could be the right school for you and your family. Mrs Deakin is happy to meet any prospective parents between 7am and 6pm, just call the school office on 0121 558 1651 to make an appointment.
Children break up for Half Term on Thursday 23d October . Friday 24th is an INSET day.
Little Reminder Due to the weather constantly changing can we remind parents/carers to please ensure that their child always brings in their coat to school.
Wrates will be visiting us on Thursday 23rd October to take individual and sibling photographs. If you have children in the same building they will have their photos taken with their siblings during the morning . If you have children in separate buildings you will need to bring them to Windmill Lane or Croxall Way between 8.00am and 8.30am to have their photos taken together.
Secondary application forms. If you have a child in year 6 application forms need to be submitted online by 31st October. If you need any help, please ask at the school office.
Parents evening is on Tuesday 21st October . Appointment times have been given. If the time given is inconvenient please speak to your child's teacher who will try and accomadate your preference. Maple's parents evening with Miss Bowker is Monday 20th October.
To celebrate Diwali our School council would like children to come to school on Monday 20th October dressed in colourful clothes. You don't need to go to any expense , just your own clothes or traditional dress.

Friday was a day of gifting and giving thanks for the Harvest. Tom from Brushstrokes Sandwell joined us at St Matthews Church to recieve our donations for the food bank. Thankyou for your continued Support and thankyou Mrs Tolley and Mrs Amphlett for leading not 1 but 3 beautiful services. Many thanks to Mrs Foster, Mrs Tolley and Mrs Kaur for their wonderful teaching.
